I added some smaller drops, and clustered some yellow on the corner! Then I decided to have it hung sideways!

Once Upon A Time: Fairy Tales, Fantasy, and Contemporary ArtOrganized for the Racine Art Museum by RAM Curator of Exhibitions, Lena Vigna. In this exhibit, the artists are exploring modern day issues through artwork based on fairy tales and fairy tale iconography. I find this incredibly interesting because most fairy tales aim to teach a lesson or empower the viewer, but these artists are taking them in the opposite way. They're using the tales to expose modern issues. It's a great idea because the viewers are drawn in due to the familiarity of the fairy tale aesthetic to the art, and then once they are up close, they realize the true meaning behind the work. This was of capturing the people by relating to their childhood and also exploiting their flaws is genius. Also, I love the surrealism aspects of these works, particularly the Adam and Eve and the Reese Ruth Dowager. I hope to use a color scheme similar to the Adam and Eve work in parts of my painting. |
